Drop Zone #17
A dropping zone has been approved by the committee for hole #17. If your ball lands in the water/penalty area you may choose to drop behind the yellow tee stone. In addition to other options available under Rule 17.1d, the ball maybe dropped, under penalty of one stroke, anywhere on the tee box not closer to the hole than the stone.
Special Provisional Ball
Provisional Ball for Ball in Penalty Areas Rule 18.3 has been modified as follows: If there is doubt whether a ball is in or lost in a penalty area, the player may play another ball provisionally under options allowed in Rule 17.1d, including from the dropping zone.
- If the ball is found outside the penalty are, the player must continue with it.
- If the original ball is found in the penalty area, the player may either play the original ball as it lies or continue with the ball played provisionally under 17.1d
- If the original ball is not found or identified within a three minute search period, the player must continue with the ball player provisionally.
Stroke and Distance
The 2019 USGA optional local rule affecting stroke and distance has not been approved by the club. We still play stroke and distance. Play a provisional ball if there is any doubt that your ball will be found in play.

If the ball when placed comes to rest on the spot on which it is placed and it subsequently moves, there is no penalty, and the ball must be played as it lies, unless the provisions of any other Rule apply. If the player fails to mark the position of the ball before lifting it, moves the ball marker prior to putting the ball back in play, or moves the ball in any other manner, such as rolling it with a club, the player incurs a penalty of one stroke.
Boundary Fences
If your ball comes to rest against a boundary fence you may take unplayable ball relief under penalty of one stroke: Rule 19.
